Fabric Swatch ready for Gleaning on the Internet
Yes we have a gold mine of fabrics awaiting us on the Internet. I have a long list below of fabric sites.
FYI: Creative Impulse, Electric Quilt 4 and 5, Quilt-Pro 2, 3 and 4, all require that the file format be converted from jpegs and gifs (file extensions) to 256 color bitmap usable before they are usable by the fabric libraries. I have included a tutorial in this issue on how to download fabrics from the Internet and THEN convert them USABLE fabric files for your Quilt Software Libraries. using a wonderful little freeware called IrfanView32--all your problems and using multiple programs will be solved with this great little FREEware.
FYI: QuiltSOFT does not require a fabric file conversions because it accepts most picture formats including gif and jpeg and PCQuilt allows 16 million colors in their bitmaps.
Quilt-Pro and Electric Quilt have provided fabric or fabric access.
Here are websites that I have collected that have fabrics. Bonnie Hensley contributed a few of these also.
Fabric Companies that have swatch examples
Stores that carry fabric
If you have some fabric website that you would like to share, e-mail me and I will add them to the list. Mention the fabric list, so I will know where you would like them added. (thanks)
Remember to convert the files to usable bitmaps for the our quilting software, check out the IrfanView32 program and the article that I wrote on how to convert a lot of fabrics at one time in only a few simple steps.
