About the Author

Mimi Dietrich lives in Baltimore, Maryland, and loves to applique. She has been writing books for That Patchwork Place for 20 years. Her first book, Happy Endings: Finishing the Edges of Your Quilt, is an all-time bestseller that is still used by many quilters when they bind their quilts, and it has been expanded in a revised edition. Her favorite books are the ones with an applique theme, such as Mimi Dietrich's Baltimore Basics and Easy Applique Samplers, but Mimi has also written books with the Smithsonian Institution and a very special book of quilts for those whose lives have been touched by breast cancer. Now that Mimi has grandchildren, shw has writeen a book of children's quilts with Sally Schneider, called Growing Up with Quilts. In 2006, Mimi designed a line of fabrics with P&B Textiles and the Baltimore Museum of Art based on her favorite Baltimore Album quilts.
