About the Authors

Uncomfortable unless she is creating and making art, Jane Davila began her professional art career as a printmaker, specializing in etchings and intaglios. Her prints are in many private and corporate collections. In 1990, when her mother, Claire Oehler, opened the Country Quilter and invited her to join the business, Jane began her journey into fabric and fiber.

Her artistic adventure continues, and the addition of paper to her art quilts brings her favorite media together. She teaches and designs for the Country Quilter, where watching her students discover their creativity is a great joy.

She lives in Ridgefield, Connecticut, with her husband, her daughter, and one little blonde dog.

Elin Waterston taught herself to sew when she was a child and would beg her mother to take her to the fabric store. In college and graduate school, she studied costume design and worked in costume shops building costumes and masks, using all sorts of materials and painting, dyeing and manipulating fabrics. Eventually, that evolved into quiltmaking, which evolved into art quilting.

Elin's quilts are in many public and private collections and have been exhibited in numerous galleries and museums. She teaches innovative and art quilting at the Country Quilter in Somers, New York, and art at the Katonah Art Center in Katonah, New York.

She lives in South Salem, New York, with her husband, her son, and two little white dogs.
