About the Author

Valerie Hearder began making quilts in 1973. Her first small, framed landscapes were made in 1981, and soon afterward Valerie began teaching and, eventually, writing about them. Her quilting career has spanned 30 years and she has developed a reputation in the quilt world for positive and inspiring workshops. Her workshops have taken her to Europe, Japan, South Africa, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and throughout North America. Valerie's quilts have been exhibited internationally and have appeared in scores of publications. She has been awarded several honors, including the prestigious Dorothy McMurdie Award, presented by the Canadian Quilters Association for significant contribution to Canadian quilting. She was also included in 30 Distinguished Quilt Artists of the World, a juried exhibition in the Tokyo Dome. This is her second book of fabric landscapes. Valerie enjoys and idyllic country life in Nova Scotia, Canada where she lives with her husband.
