About the Author

Growing up in St. Louis, Missouri, Mary Engelbreit adored drawing. She began sketching as soon as she could hold a crayon and by the age of 11 she knew without a doubt that she wanted to be an artist.

After short-lived careers at an art store, an ad agency and the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Mary began illustrating fantasy greeting cards. But she really found her niche after her first son was born, when her artistic focus turned to more "everyday" moments.

Now an internationally known artist, Mary has created more than 4,000 images featuring whimsical quotes, precocious children and of course, her trademark cherries and Scottie dogs. In Mary's lovely, nostalgic world, life is richly detailed and "to imagine is everything!"
