About the Author

Marcia L. Layton resides in Tampa, Florida, with her husband, Steve, their youngest daughter, Carrie and three cats. Marcia has been a pre-K teacher and the assistant director of Play Haven Preschool in Tampa for the past 23 years. Inheriting a love of sewing from her grandmother and mother, Marcia has always enjoyed experimenting with all kinds of arts and crafts, from painting to smocking to embroidery, and most recently, to quilting. She started making handprint quilts for the preschool about eight years ago, and some of those quilt designs are featured in her first book, Handprint Quilts: Creating Children's Keepsakes with Paint and Fabric (Martingale and Company, 2003). Marcia continues to paint little hands and she also enjoys teaching her handprint techniques to adults, all the while having fun and learning more about the world of quilting..
