About the Author

Let me introduce myself, I'm Kay M. Capps Cross. It's an awfully big name, but a panicked on the eve of my wedding and has to keep it all. I had the Capps part for so long that it felt like I would be losing a limb if I gave it up. I started sewing very young. I spent some time away from textiles and busied myself getting a degree in voice performance, getting married, and having four children. I stayed connected to fabric by making clothing for my children and creating their Halloween costumes each year. I started taking quilting classes, and soon wound up teaching. My foray into black and white was instrumental in developing my style. I have presented and taught in quilt shops, guilds, retreats, and have been marketing my patterns internationally since Quilt Market in Portland, Oregon, in 2003.
