About the AuthorWendy Vosters was attracted to crafts at an early age, learning how to knit, embroider, crochet and even make dolls. Her mum—who never, ever sits still—set the example. Wendy got her first sewing machine at age 13 and started to make her own clothes. No, not the ordinary clothes you saw everywhere, but garments embellished with cross-stitch, ribbons and appliqués. She even made a very fine cutwork blouse for her granny, who always wore it with pride. Wendy finished high school, but also kept up with the crafts she loved so much. Even while attending conservatory (yes, she is a lecturing musician), she found time to make her own wardrobe and do a lot of embroidery as well. In 1995, while attending a quilt show, Wendy became fascinated by the beautiful quilts on display. A new hobby was born - patchwork! She took a basic course in quiltmaking and since then she has never stopped quilting. Nowadays, she designs patterns for various patchwork shops in the Netherlands. Most of the patterns are for paper piecing—her favorite technique. Wendy is happily married to Piet van den Eeden and lives with him, her mum and four dogs in a town in the southern part of the Netherlands. Fortunately her mum is a very enthusiastic quilter as well, so they are never short of topics of conversation. Wendy's husband is often out on the sea fishing in his spare time, which leaves Wendy plenty of opportunity to enjoy her favorite pastime - quilting!
