About the Author

Susan Taylor Propst learned to quilt in 1987 when she was expecting her first child. She began her career as a quilting teacher in 1994 while living in rural Colorado. Initially she started teaching because she did not have anyone nearby to share quilting with, but soon she was able to form a small quilting groups. In 1999, she and her family moved to northern England and she quickly resumed her teaching pursuits, Since arriving in England, she has completed City & Guilds in Patchwork and Quilting and in 2006 Susan received a Higher National Certificate in Textiles. She enjoys teaching all levels of quilters and is popular with her students, both British and American. Although she likes all aspects of quilting, she is particularly fond of applique and enjoys designing patterns.

This is Susan's first publication, although she has designed numerous patterns for her students to use in classes. She currently lives in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, with her husband and three children. She has found plenty of wonderful quilters in England and believes that the long, dark winters are always an inspiration to quilt.
