About the Author

Lynne Edwards teaches and demonstrates a wide range of patchwork and quilting techniques, both hand and machine. She has written several textbooks that are considered to be definitive works. Her previous books for David & Charles are The Sample Quilt Book (1996), The New Sampler Quilt Book (2000) and Making Scrap Quilts to Use It Up (2003), Stash-Buster Quilts (2006).

In 1992 Lynne was awarded the Jewel Pearce Patterson Scholarship for International Quilt Teachers. This is in recognition of outstanding qualities as a teacher and included a trip to the Houston Quilt Market and Festival. The award led to invitations to teach as part of the Houston Faculty in 1993 and 1995 and at the Symposium of the Australasian Quilters' Guild in Brisbane in 1993. Since then international teaching trips have included venues in Europe, in Missouri, and the National Quilt Show in South Africa. In 2000, teaching commitments included Durban in South Africa and the National Canadian Festival, in Canada 2000.

Her long association with the quilting movement both locally and nationally has involved Lynne in the organization of quilt shows, from a local village hall to the Quilters' Guild National Exhibitions. She has served on selection committees and is an experienced judge of National Quilt Shows. She was Senior Judge at the South African National Quilt Show in 1998, her first experience of judging overseas. In 2000, Lynne was given honorary lifetime membership of the Quilters' Guild of the British Isles and in 2002 was awarded the Amy Emms Memorial Trophy for services to quilting.
