Over the years, Sunbonnet Sue has truly become an icon of American quilting. Marian Shenk created these calendar blocks using Sunbonnet Sue in a variety of costumes and activities to represent various holidays throughout the year. Each block can be made as a single wall quilt or banner and changed with the season. Or they can be sashed and joined to make a nostalgic year-round calendar as Marian has done.
All of the blocks are appliquéd, by whatever method you like to use. General instructions are given for both hand appliqué and machine appliqué.
