About the Author

Claudia Olson grew up in California, but moved to Juneau, Alaska, in 1976 and then to Wenatchee, Washington, in 1991. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree and a K-12 teaching certificate from the University of California in Fullerton. She taught school for 25 years, and now does substitute teaching. For the past 12 years, she has taught quilting classes for quilt guilds and quilt shops. She is married with two grown children.

Claudia began quilting more than 18 years ago in Juneau and joined the Capital city Quilters guild. After taking a class from Marsha McCloskey, she was inspired to look at blocks and patterns in a new way to create her own unique designs. Since then, no quilt pattern has been safe from tweaking! She began to experiment with block combinations and looked for ways to make secondary patterns stand out. From there she jumped into designing quilts on the computer and developed several patterns. She enlisted help from fellow quilters in the North Central Washington Quilt Guild to make the abundance of quilts that she had designed.

This book is a follow-up to Claudia's Two-Block Appliqué Quilts (Martingale & Company,2004) She likes to incorporate as many new piecing techniques into her books as possible.

Claudia enjoys teaching quilt classes, writing, designing new quilts, and traveling to meet quilters of all skill levels and especially to encourage new quilters. She can be contacted via e-mail at twoblockquilts@yahoo.com.
