Procedure to dye 1 yard of fabric:

1. Machine Wash 1 yard of fabric on HOT cycle OR by hand as hot as possible with 1/4 tsp. Soda Ash (white powder) and 1/4 tsp. Synthrapol® (liquid). Rinse thoroughly. Keep fabric wet while making dye bath.
2. Dissolve fiber reactive dye powder (color powder) separately in 1/2 cup room temperature water and set aside. DO NOT dissolve in hot water.
3. Measure 3 quarts room temperature water into large plastic, stainless steel or enamel container. Container should be large enough for water and fabric to move freely without overflowing.
4. Add 1 cup salt to this dye bath and stir with spoon until dissolved.
5. Add dissolved dye and stir.
6. Add washed and still wet fabric. Stir immediately for 10 to 15 minutes.
7. Wearing rubber gloves completely dissolve remainder of Soda Ash in 1/2 cup warm water. Remove fabric from dye bath, pour in dissolved Soda Ash and stir. Return fabric to the dye bucket making sure the folds in the fabric change (if they don't, streaking may result). Stir continuously for 5 minutes. Then stir every 5 minutes for a total of 60 minutes. For even dye results, stir constantly during first 30 minutes of dye bath.
8. After 60 minutes dyeing is complete. While still wearing rubber gloves remove fabric from dye buckets. Discard exhausted dye bath down the drain.
9. Rinse fabric thoroughly in a bucket or room temperature water. Change the rinse water 3 to 4 times.
10. Wash HOT adding remainder of Synthrapol® to wash water, rinse well and dry.
