Quilt Factory Foundation Piecing Blocks & Quilt Patterns on CD
A New direction in Quilting Software
by Sharla Hicks © 2003 The
quilting software industry has been following a new direction over the last couple
of years. It is offering the quilter what they have always been able to buy, the
printed-paper quilt patterns. These are CDs that may or may not be associated
with a book. All are stand alone and do not require owning any other software.
Each is geared to appeal to the user who enjoys patterns and also wants the flexibility
to printout blocks and instructions using a computer setup. Quilt-Pro Systems
has developed a new line called Quilt Factory that continues adding to their line
of Foundation Paper Piecing blocks using the Factory Printing engine. All the
paper piecing blocks are designed by Mariam Neuringer, the company owner, who
is a paper piecing expert. The first two Quilt Factories are theme specific covering
two seasons of the year, Christmas and Fall. I suspect there will be more additions
to this line as time goes along. Easy to useQuilt Factory opens
with a help and quilt selection file front and center. This file displays in the
Internet Blowser selected for your computer. Click on the Quilt Design you wish
to look at more closely and you are presented with a menu that opens instructional
pages written as PDF files (Abode Acrobat Reader files) for exact, what-you-see-you-get
printouts.
Friendly
user Interface for selecting and printing blocksClose the Browser or use
the Print Block link and you have instant access to a familiar interface found
in all the Factory CDs. It presents a menu bar and block window view. Double click
on the block or select a block and click the print button and the printer dialogue
box opens.
Quilt-Pro
Systems has developed an excellent printing interface for paper pieced blocks.
Note below the complete list of available printing options for foundation printing.
